Hello, my name is Tawny Poggio and I am the Affective Needs Special Education teacher here at Maxwell Elementary. I have been with the Maxwell family for 6 years. I am a graduate of the University of California at Riverside (UCR), where I obtained my Bachelors degree in Business Economics. I continued my education at Metro State University completing my Master’s degree in Special Education. I also played soccer, or futbol rather, for four years with my university (UCR) and further pursued my futbol dream and played three seasons of semi-professional soccer. I spent two seasons with the Fort Collins Force and one season with Ajax America/ Los Angeles Sol Reserve Club in Los Angeles, California.
After my futbol career, I decided to take my passion for soccer to coach youth soccer and train goalkeepers. It was during this time that a revived passion for working with children reemerged and guided me towards a new direction of becoming a teacher. I also run the Soccer for Success program as I wish to continue to be involved in my passion of futbol. When I am away from teaching and coaching, I enjoy spending time traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with family and friends. I am proud to serve our Maxwell community!
