Hello, my name is Tawny Baldwin (formerly Poggio) and I am the Affective Needs Special Education teacher here at Maxwell Elementary. I have been with the Maxwell family for now my 10th year. I am a graduate of the University of California at Riverside (UCR), where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics. I continued my education at Metropolitan State University of Denver completing my Master’s degree in Special Education. I also played soccer, or fútbol, for four years with my university (UCR) and further pursued my fútbol dream and played three seasons of semi-professional soccer. I spent two seasons with the Fort Collins Force and one season with Ajax America/ Los Angeles Sol Reserve Club in Los Angeles, California.
After my fútbol career, I decided to take my passion for soccer to coach youth soccer and train goalkeepers. It was during this time that a revived passion for working with children reemerged and guided me towards a new direction of becoming a teacher. When I am away from teaching and coaching, I enjoy spending time traveling, going to concerts, camping and spending time with family and friends. I am proud to serve our Maxwell community!
